John FitzGerald has a well-established foundation of litigation experience representing individuals and institutions in both state and federal courts.  John has successfully undertaken some of the Firm's most unique and innovative cases, and is an integral component of the Firm's top tier ranking by U.S. News and World Report in personal injury litigation.  He has also been recognized in the 2016 Best Lawyers® list of outstanding attorneys in Connecticut for his work in personal injury litigation.

 

Prior to founding Cranmore, FitzGerald & Meaney, John practiced at Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, P.C. in downtown Hartford, where he gained a wide array of trial experience in areas such as professional insurance defense, commercial, construction and regulatory law, as well as product liability, and personal injury matters. 

 

In addition to his work at the Firm, John has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, in the subjects of Civil Procedure and Appellate Advocacy.  He has been called upon to lecture groups of insurance professionals on the intersection of insurance law and ethics, and in 2007, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Friend of Education Award from the Connecticut Association of Schools for his volunteer work in public schools in the State of Connecticut.
