John P. McHugh, Jr.



John McHugh joined Cranmore, FitzGerald & Meaney in 1987 and practices both transactional and litigation work for the Firm. As head of the Firm's commercial real estate practice, John represents a diverse clientele, including banks, commercial landlords, and individuals.   He has an extensive practice base that covers commercial asset-based lending and real estate lending, as well as the related corporate, environmental, and tax matters.  John also represents lenders in connection with debt restructure and workout matters.


John regularly works with clients in connection with a wide range of real estate purchases, sales and refinancings, including commercial properties such as office buildings, shopping centers, and industrial buildings.  He is also well versed in advising clients on the legal issues related to such transactions


Outside of the Firm, John has lectured at various banking, regulatory and lending seminars, and was an instructor of Banking Law for the American Institute of Banking.  He has also served on the Colchester Board of Selectmen for eight years, and continues a strong tradition of pro bono legal services.
